Throughout his life, Finley has developed an admiration for Aotearoa’s awe inspiring, serene native environments and the people within it.
Growing up in the beautifully bleak, windswept rock that is the capital city of Wellington, he strives to use this imagery to his advantage. Further inspiration came from an OE after highschool, where a basic Lumix G5 camera guided him on the journey into film and photography, shooting what he thought was cinema standard imagery.
Finishing study in film production in 2020, Finley quickly became excited by documentary, and co-created ‘The Mad Austrian’ (a man who is actually mad), which won ‘Best Doco Short’ at the Austrian International Film Festival.
He continues to create documentary films whilst working as a freelance filmmaker, and is currently keeping an ear to the ground for a new angle to expose.
